It is time to register for Religious Education Classes! I am delighted to announce a simpler and easier registration process! The Archdiocese has approved an online program from the company “Parish Giving” for online Religious Education registration and fee payment. We are among the few to begin this newly approved program. Please read the instructions and notes below so you will know how to complete the registration and avoid delays. As with all things new we all need to be patient as we adjust to this new process.
CLASSES BEGIN ON CATECHETICAL SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15
Children attend, with their parents, theFamily Mass at 10:00 a.m. Classes begin at 11a.m. Children arriving after 11a.m. will be marked late. Please note our staggered dismissal times in the class descriptions generated in the registration.
WHEN DO WE REGISTER? REGISTER NOW!!
Registration deadline is AUGUST 20! Each class has a limited number of students. Registration will be totally closed August 21- September 15 and will reopen on Monday, September 16 for unfilled classes. It takes time to organize classes, have enough Catechists and Assistants and get class information out to parents. Late registrations will be difficult to accommodate if the class is filled. Every effort will bemadeto add classes if necessary but I can only do that if you register promptly.
HOW DO WE REGISTER?
1.Go to this link below. Fill out the form and add the fee in the payment section. After you make the payment, you will be able to choose your child’s class. Read the full class description and select carefully. If you select the wrong class, I will switch your class selection. Please email me if you are unsure which class to choose. No one will be turned away because of an inability to pay the fee but you will have to contact me to request an exemption. The system will not let you complete the registration without payment and will mark the registration as pending until I accept the registration without payment.
2.ADD:
A.Upload the BAPTISM CERTIFICATE where indicated. Please do this even if we have it on file. This is a new system. If you don’t have it on hand, you can add it in your account afterwards. It is necessary to have a Baptism certificate in your registration account. If you have a Reconciliation and Communion certificate you can also upload those.
B. FEE
The classFEE IS $50 PER CHILD and there is a $3.00 processing fee per family. There is a discounted fee indicated in the payment section for a 4thand 5thchild. Please pay through the registration link.
3.You will receive an email in September with your child’s class, name of Catechist, and additional instructions.
4. Your child will not be allowed in class on the first day if s/he is not registered by August 20.
5. TheEMERGENCY CONTACT PERSON IS NOT THE CHILD’S PARENT. In the event of an emergency, this is the person we will call if the child’s parents cannot be reached.
6. PARENT HANDBOOK
The Archdiocese has provide for us a parent handbook. The link for it is in the online registration form or you can find it as an attachment to this Flocknote email. Please read it and check the agreement box in the online registration form.
7.Registration in our Sunday School program is a commitment to a program of study and a process of faith formation. Students are expected to attend class and complete class assignments. If a student must miss class, please email me and the Catechist before 10am and arrange with the Catechist to make up the missed class. Students must satisfactorily complete a grade level before moving on to the next grade.
8. Be sure to keep the Sunday class calendar handy and refer to it each week.
STEP UP AND STEP FORWARD
It takes a community of volunteers to run a successful Religious Education Program. We cannot STEP FORWARD and have classes without sufficient volunteers. We cannot STEP FORWARD and add additional classes and grow our program without Catechists. Volunteers are needed in the following ways:
- Catechists/Co-Catechists and Substitute Catechists for each class
- Team members (at school door and in the building). We need
several people for this!
This program could not continue without the many people who give their time and energy to provide instruction for your children and assistance in the program organization.
All our Catechists and Assistants are volunteers with family and professional obligations. They generously give their time each week to teach and supervise your children. We cannot do this without you. All who work with children follow a simple screening process according to the Archdiocesan requirements: a background check, information form, and an online or on-site training session (about 45 min). Please contact me if you can volunteer.
I am thankful for the dedication of all our volunteers!
You are the first educators of your child. Our hope is, that through our partnership, we can assist you in the Religious Education of your child.
